Flexography 101

•Flexo – Direct rotary printing.

–Ink is applied to a plate, plate is applied to substrate.

•Gravure – Direct rotary printing.

–Ink is applied to cylinder which is also the plate, cylinder is then applied to the substrate.

•Offset – Indirect flat or rotary printing.

–Ink is applied to plate, plate is applied to blanket, blanket is applied to substrate.
