After two days of intense testing our two teams both placed in the medals at the Phoenix Challenge International Flexography skills competition held in Charlotte North Carolina, April 1,2,3.
Hannah Plavnick and Stephanie Hammond won the First Place Gold Medal with a score of 605 out of a possible 625. They each received a $1000 US dollar bursary. This was the second 1st place standing for Hannah as she placed 1st last year as well with another partner. Hannah has been accepted into Ryersons Graphic Communication Management program for the Fall of 09.
Grant Izukawa and Abdul Murad placed third and brought home the Bronze medals.
A design submitted by a grade 10 student, Frances Lee, was awarded the best Tshirt design plaque.
Peter Belanger was awarded the Diann Teague award for leading the winning team
Hannah and Stephanie won a side contest called the Flexo Experiments and received apple i-tunes cards for $15 each.
A team from North Carolina placed 2nd with only 6 marks between 2nd and 3rd.
There were 20 teams in the competition. One from Winnipeg and 17 from all over the USA.
The CFTC was awarded a plaque for their financial contribution to the Challenge.
